About Us

The Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) is the national credit union trade association, representing Canada’s credit unions, caisses populaires (outside of Quebec), and regional credit union Central organizations. CCUA is distinct in its commitment to co-operative values, and is the first, national credit union governed organization in Canada.

Our Role

CCUA advocates for a successful, competitive and growing credit union industry and is passionate about ensuring that credit unions and caisses populaires grow as the financial institutions of choice.

CCUA works on behalf of its members in four key areas:
  • Advocacy and Government Relations to ensure national public policy recognizes the distinctiveness and strength of credit unions and caisses populaires;
  • National Regulatory and Network Compliance, which includes a focus on payments network compliance;
  • Professional Development and Education of credit union employees and board members;
  • National Awareness Building, which focuses on promoting the value and importance of Canada's credit unions and caisses populaires in local communities and to the Canadian economy.

Our Past

As the national association for Canada's credit unions, we have undergone significant changes over the past few years. In January 2016, the company formerly known as Credit Union Central of Canada launched a new name - CCUA - and brand to better reflect these changes and our evolving role as an association that is focused on growing a stronger, more successful, and more competitive credit union industry.

Our Vision

Championing credit unions as they help all Canadians achieve financial well-being.

Our Mission

The success of credit unions is at the core of what we do. We are a strong advocate, raise awareness, provide quality research and education, and a collaborative leader on emerging industry issues.
