Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a critical component in education and professional development. It acknowledges and values the knowledge and skills individuals have acquired both inside and outside formal educational settings. RPL facilitates lifelong learning, allowing for personal and professional experiences to be formally recognized, which can lead to advanced standing or credits in academic programs like the General Business Studies and the Management Studies Programs offered through The Credit Union Institute of Canada.
General Business Studies Program
The General Business Studies Program has been designed to give entry-level employee a balanced overview of the key competency areas in business management. The Fellow of the Credit Union Institute of Canada (FCUIC) designation can be earned by completing a series of general business and credit union specific courses. Learners must also fulfill the work experience requirements. The general business (first level-100 series) courses can be completed through most universities, colleges, or professional Institutions, including through our academic partner, Dalhousie University. If you have completed a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration degree from a recognized university, you will automatically receive credit for all the required 100 level business courses and are just one course away from receiving this nationally recognized designation. Management Studies Program
The Management Studies Program is an entry-level development program that includes a mix of general business and credit union specific courses. The program has been designed to give a foundational understanding of the key competency areas of credit union business management. It is a powerful program for high potential employees and those who want to transfer their business expertise to a credit union environment. The Associate of the Credit Union Institute of Canada (ACUIC) designation can be earned by completing a series of general business and credit union specific courses. Learners must also fulfill the work experience requirements. The general business (first level-100 series) courses can be completed through most universities, colleges, or professional Institutions, including through our academic partner, Dalhousie University. If you have completed a Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Administration degree from a recognized university, you will automatically receive credit for all the required 100 level business courses.
