2018 CCUA National Shared Vision Survey Results

Published Date: May 25, 2018

CCUA completed a national survey in March to capture a substantiated view of how credit unions see their future, including strategies to compete and perceived barriers to success. The effort was undertaken to support the work of the National Shared Vision Committee.

Within these survey results, we identified several key takeaways:

  • Credit unions are looking for greater leadership with respect to technology
  • A strong desire for collaboration was noted by credit unions of all sizes
  • Building awareness of credit unions is perceived as vital by credit unions of all sizes
  • In terms of effective strategies for the future, little consensus exists among credit unions
  • A number of credit unions – from small to large – believe they can be successful with a perceptually ‘small’ and community-oriented strategy
  • There is minimal interest in the federal model

We were also pleased to note that the survey results, similar to our annual member engagement survey, validated the relevance of CCUA’s Strategic Pillars – Thought Leadership, Policy & Advocacy, National Credit Union Awareness, Professional Development & Education – in serving the needs our member credit unions.

The National Shared Vision Committee is reviewing these results and will discuss actionable steps at an upcoming meeting. In the meantime, we are encouraged by those across the system who have shared that the results of this survey are providing immediate value in their planning discussions/meetings.

Thank you to those who took the time to share the view from their credit union!
