The Canadian Credit Union Association and Tamlo International Celebrate Viddy Award for New Flag the Money Training Video

Published Date: May 28, 2024

TORONTO, May 29, 2024 – The Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA) and Tamlo International are pleased to announce that Ben’s Web, the video drama embedded in the new 2024 Flag the Money™, has won a Gold Viddy (Videographer) award, one of the most coveted honours in the industry.

“We are committed to strengthening credit unions with top-tier educational resources. Winning the Gold Viddy Award for Ben’s Web, part of our Flag the Money course, underscores the high value we provide to our members. This award highlights our dedication to delivering impactful, relevant training that equips credit union professionals with the skills to combat financial crimes effectively,” said Mirren Harris, Vice President of Education & Professional Development, CCUA.

“In this new video we wanted to feature emerging trends such as the role of professional money launderers and the convergence of financial crime with terrorist financing. Ben’s Web effectively demonstrates how tugging at single threads of unusual activity can help to unravel a complex criminal network,” said Kairiin Bright, VP Product Development, Tamlo International Inc.

Ben’s Web tells the story of a professional money launderer and a terrorist financier whose actions are uncovered by a diligent team of credit union employees. The project was developed with guidance and feedback from credit union compliance experts across Canada, and Kawartha Credit Union provided their Cornwall branch as one of the main shooting locations.

“It was rewarding to work with Tamlo and my compliance colleagues on the new Flag the Money training course. We spent six months designing the program with Ben’s Web as the centrepiece to illustrate many of the teaching points we wanted to emphasize, and the feedback from our frontline employees shows that we succeeded,” said Brenda Mitchell, Manager, Compliance and Financial Crime, Connect First and Servus Credit Union Ltd.

The Viddy awards have been celebrating outstanding achievement in video production since 1994. Ben’s Web was selected from over 2,500 U.S., Canadian and international entries for a Gold Award, signifying a “project that exceeds industry standards and video artisans who excel in the scope of their own environment.” A list of all winners can be found on the Viddy Awards website at www.viddyawards.com
