Over the next few months, CCUA is launching a new round of MLA engagement meetings in Saskatchewan. With the Legislature adjourned, many MLAs are in their constituency and attending local events and hosting meetings with constituents. It is an excellent opportunity for credit unions to renew their connections with their representatives or make new ones with the 31 new MLAs that were elected in Saskatchewan in the most recent election. CCUA will work with credit unions to contact their local MLAs and to provide support for those meetings. We want to remind them about the importance of credit unions' contribution to the provincial economy and to advocate for future amendments for The Credit Union Act. New Laws Regarding Third Party Demands from Saskatchewan Finance 

Some credit unions may have received a communication from the Finance Revenue Division of the provincial government. The bulletin outlines new requirements to allow third party demands to be executed on joint accounts. Section, 65 of the Revenue and Financial Services Act were implemented in the fall of 2024.  CCUA has contacted Saskatchewan Finance with some more clarity around the types of collections that financial institutions will need to facilitate. We will provide all credit unions with an update on this matter.
