Aided by AI and new technologies, cyber-scams are taking huge leaps in sophistication and proliferation. This makes cybersecurity a foundational defence for your credit union, your employees and members. No matter your size, keeping your team informed and up to date is one of the simplest ways to help strengthen your defences. The latest education tools can help.
One of the best tools available to credit unions is the Skillsoft Percipio license that grants access to key cybersecurity resources such as the Credit Union Generative AI Business Transformation Learning Program and Cybersecurity in Digital Transformation.
Other useful resources available to credit unions are included in the CCUA Education Advantage membership, including:
- Cybersecurity Awareness: A series of four to five minute animated videos that provides employees with an overview of common online security risks, along with best practices and approaches to protect their files and systems from risks.
- Fraud Awareness:A 20-minute eLearning course that provides a cornerstone for understanding, detecting and preventing financial fraud.
- Card Fraud: A 20-minute eLearning course that provides an overview of card fraud, including the types of card transactions and common methods criminals use to steal cards and card data, as well as better way to protect member information.
The Canadian Credit Union Association and the Large Credit Union Coalition (LCUC) have partnered to provide useful resources to help educate Canadians about different types of cyber threats and safe browsing habits. Our goal is to help credit unions and their members across Canada feel confident in using cybersecurity best practices every time they get online. View the videos here.
You can also turn to Canada's Anti-Fraud Centre for updates on the latest scams or visit the Competition Bureau of Canada for a wide range of tips and advice on protecting yourself against fraud and scammers. The Competition Bureau even offers a quiz to test your knowledge! By staying informed and vigilant, you can minimize the risk of becoming a victim of cybercrime. You can complete the quiz here.
