Learn How CUIC Supported Taurean Seib’s Credit Union Career
Published Date: Oct 23, 2024
Life can be difficult, challenging, inspiring, and much more. These are likely a few of the words that were passing through Taurean Seib’s mind as he started his career at 19 years old on the frontline at Coastal Community Credit Union, nervous but also excited to embark on the adventures of some pretty remarkable professional “firsts.”
Today, Taurean is a senior manager and still carries that same adventurous and motivated spirit as some of those “firsts” have included incredible achievements with CCUA Education and the Credit Union Institute of Canada (CUIC).
From taking his first CUIC course in 2006, where he learned how credit unions are “different by design,” to receiving his first accreditation, Associate of the Credit Union Institute of Canada (ACUIC) in 2021, Taurean has shown no plans to slow down in his professional development journey. His journey to scholastic enrichment has included no less than seven CUIC courses, and he is currently on a path towards becoming an accredited consumer and residential mortgage lender.
Furthermore, Taurean has also been able to leverage the skills gained from the CUIC courses he had taken early in his career to further his education at Royal Roads University. But don’t take our word for it, here it from him:
We are delighted for the career Taurean has and continues to earn, just as he is excited for his junior staff who are new to the credit union sector. His biggest piece of advice? In Taurean’s words:
Figure out a path to grow and lean into it. We can put some extra time aside. It does open up opportunities for you and it develops the skills that will help you achieve more. This is about finding balance; something that’s practical and achievable. Everybody can do it, and I do believe that everybody can succeed.
If you are just as inspired by Taurean’s story as we are, there are a plethora of first steps available to you to walk paths that lifelong learners like Taurean have tread. Find the right courses and pathways for you by checking out our certifications page.
