Last week, the Federal Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry put forward amendments to Bill C-27, the Digital Charter Implementation Act, which will, in part, seek to modernize Canada’s federal privacy law. Amendments include an explicit recognition of a fundamental right to privacy for Canadians, additional protections for children, and increased flexibility for the federal Privacy Commission and compliance agreements.
