Financial Literacy Month: Resources for Impactful Member Conversations

Financial Literacy Month (FLM) is aimed at helping Canadians manage their debt and expenses wisely, save for the future and understand their financial rights and responsibilities. Help your members make wise financial decisions, now and in the future, with the courses outlined below.

Financial Abuse of Older Adults – This online 45 minute self-paced course will increase your ability to recognize financial abuse, review your options and respond in constructive ways. The course, explores topics based on abuse of assets, credit and Power of Attorney. This course qualifies as CE credits for the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation.

Applied Financial Guidance (November 15, 17, 19) – This eClass explores the concepts of members’ financial well-being – such as: risks; protection from loss of income, building wealth in a low rate environment, lack of diversification and the risk of not planning at all. For learners who have completed CUIC 240, this is the perfect follow-up course to apply the concepts learned using facilitated exercises.  Register by November 10!

Fundamentals of Personal Financial Planning (CUIC 240): For learners who want to increase their confidence when talking with members about any aspect of their financial life. This course covers the basics of cash management and budgeting, debt management, insurance and risk management, educational planning, investment planning, retirement planning, tax planning, and estate planning. Additionally, this course will be granted an exemption from CSI Financial Planning 1, through the Canadian Securities Institute if you are looking to obtain a financial planning designation.
