Financial Literacy Month 2024: Money on Your Mind. Talk About It!

Published Date: Nov 13, 2024

The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) is launching a Canada-wide campaign to destigmatize conversations about money. Since Financial Literacy Month kicked off in Canada on November 1st, there is no better time than now to dissolve the stigma around financial conversations and get talking with your loved ones to help get started enhancing your financial knowledge today. According to the FCAC, “many Canadians find it difficult to discuss money and finances with family and friends for fear of being judged.” This year’s campaign encourages Canadians to “share their financial experiences with family and friends, ask questions, and consult with trusted financial professionals.” The Each One Teach One (EOTO) program has more than 400 certified trainers who want to be that trusted financial professional on your financial journey!

Each One, Teach One is a award-winning financial literacy program that provides straightforward, plain-language financial education to Canadians facilitated by volunteer certified trainers from credit unions across the country. The sole goal of the EOTO program is to empower individuals to make the right financial decisions for themselves and their families.

This November, all Canadians are being encouraged to do one thing to boost their financial knowledge and then talk about it to bring yourself one step closer to being more confident in your financial decisionmaking. What can you do as a credit union employee? We suggest:
