Federal budget: November 5

Published Date: Oct 29, 2026

Credit unions leaders should get a better sense of the government’s fiscal plans on Thursday, November 5 when Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne presents the 2026 federal budget to parliament.

We expect to see a focus on affordability measures and support programs for businesses and individuals impacted by the Canada-U.S. tariff measures, as well as further progress on the broad issue of financial sector competition.

CCUA staff will be in the confidential advance preview of the budget preceding the minister’s speech. We plan to provide members with highlights and analysis of the budget and what it may mean for credit unions later in the evening.
