This quarter, CCUA Education and Development would like to highlight Robert Patzlet, LL.M., K.C., ICD.D., a new facilitator that brings incredible experience to our members, including how to establish due diligence. Here are Robert’s top tips:
- Get the information, assess the quality or source.
- Spend the necessary time, explore viable alternatives.
- Read the information (including experts’ reports), think about them and ask questions if they arise.
- Get expert advice – legal or otherwise.
- Independent decision making: use independent board committees from management where necessary.
- Avoid conflict. Declare your interest and abstain from voting, or even participating, when conflicted.
- Document the process.
