Credit unions highlight lending priorities with Minister of Agriculture

Published Date: Sep 2, 2026

On August 26, CCUA and representatives from Conexus Credit Union, Affinity Credit Union, and Biggar & District Credit Union met with provincial Minister of Agriculture David Marit. Credit unions highlighted the importance of maintaining a competitive agricultural lending environment and ensuring Farm Credit Canada remains a fair competitor.

Credit unions also spoke about reducing red tape and improving clarity in the business risk management programs under the Next Policy Framework, as well as the need to modernize the Saskatchewan Farm Security Act and update the independent legal advice waiver process. Lastly, CCUA and credit unions offered their support to the government and those businesses and individuals affected by the US tariff dispute.

The Minister was receptive to these priorities and appreciated credit unions’ continued support for Saskatchewan businesses and communities.
