CCUA Launches new ‘Going Federal’ Course on CCUA Campus

Published Date: Nov 13, 2024

CCUA has launched a new course, titled Going Federal: An Overview of Options, Processes, and Considerations, on CCUA Campus for credit unions looking to grow beyond their current provincial borders. This is a pressing topic and a valuable learning opportunity for any credit union interested in learning more about access to the federal framework by:

  • Continuing as a federal credit union (FCU);
  • Combining with a federal credit union (amalgamation or asset purchase); or,
  • Incorporating a bank subsidiary.

The eLearning course summarizes the advantages, disadvantages, and key considerations for each, while outlining the steps of the various application processes, and offering case studies and video interviews that highlight the experiences of credit unions who have gone or are in the process of ‘going federal.’

The course was developed in concert with Torys, LLP and is intended for credit union directors or senior leadership. The course will take approximately 45-60 minutes depending on familiarity with the subject matter.

Credit unions can register on CCUA Campus. For help with registration or any questions, contact Client Solutions at 1.888.367.1386 or clientsolutions@ccua.com
