Canada Post Employees Ordered Back to Work

The Federal Canada Industrial Relations Board has ordered postal workers to return to work which went into effect on December 17th thereby ending the 32 day strike. This order complies with an order made earlier from the federal Labour Minister, Steve MacKinnon, who directed the Board to order the workers back to work if a deal could not be reached before the end of the year. Union members have been ordered back to work under their existing contracts, which have been extended until May to allow the bargaining process to resume. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers were seeking wage increases, better pensions, and improved health benefits.
