With the leadership of the Community Impact Committee, the Climate Action Working Group, and the Financial Literacy Working Group, along with the collaboration of many credit unions and external partners, in 2021 we:
- Led a research project to review existing alternatives to payday loans, identify what is needed to expand services to financially excluded Canadians, and develop recommendations to government. Read the findings of the research here.
- Prepared a response to OSFI’s consultation on climate-related risks. Read the final submission here.
- Hosted a presentation from UNEP FI on climate risk and financial disclosures. The recording and slide deck can be found here (under “webinar recordings”).
- Enhanced the Climate Resource Page, which includes tools, webinars, research and more to help advance climate action in your credit unions. The page is available here (member log-in required).
- Prepared a response to FCAC’s consultation about renewing the National Strategy for Financial Literacy. Read the final submission here.
- Continued to represent the credit union system on various multi-stakeholder committees, such as Prosper Canada’s ABLE Network.
- Delivered over 110 Each One, Teach One financial literacy workshops, reaching over 1,200 Canadians from coast to coast.
