CCUA and Canada’s credit unions held another successful Government Relations Forum and Hike the Hill advocacy day in Ottawa earlier this week.
Credit union advocates from across the country received advocacy training, heard political speakers and met with legislators such as Minister Mary Ng (Small Business and Export Promotion Minister), Minister Patti Hajdu (Employment, Workforce Development and Labour) and Party Leaders Andrew Scheer (CPC), Jagmeet Singh (NDP) and Elizabeth May (Green). Meetings focused on the market conduct code, fair taxation and “right-sizing” regulations as part of the financial framework review.
Credit union advocates also chatted with Ministers Jody Wilson-Raybould (Justice) and Ralph Goodale (Public Safety) while handing out doughnuts to parliamentarians in an effort to raise their awareness of credit unions.
