Credit Unions and Legislators Invited to Attend May 22 All-Party Credit Union Caucus Meeting

May 16, 2018

Jessica Brandon-Jepp, Advocacy and Government Relations Advisor, Canadian Credit Union Association

Credit unions are continuing to work with legislators to ensure changes in the Budget Implementation Act related to banking terminology are to the benefit of our sector. We have worked with members of the All-Party Credit Union Caucus to organize a follow-up discussion. Will your legislator be there?

The meeting will be held in Ottawa on May 22, 2018 from 10 -11 AM in Room 306 Valour Building in the Parliamentary Precinct. CCUA will brief legislators on the elements of the 2018 Budget Implementation Act affecting credit unions, including the development of a voluntary Market Code to meet disclosure requirements on banking terminology.

Legislators from coast to coast have been engaged in helping to ensure Canada’s credit unions are able to use common sense language and compete fairly in the marketplace, and your MP will no doubt be eager to hear the latest developments on these issues. Please help us spread the word!

Credit unions are welcome to attend the event to thank legislators for their efforts and are encouraged to promote the event to their legislators.

A conference line has been set up to ensure those who cannot attend in person can listen in to the meeting. If you would like to join us by teleconference please call: 1-877-413-4790 and use Conference ID: 5085199. Credit unions and legislators can RSVP by emailing CCUA's Government Relations Team at governmentrelations@ccua.com.
