Overview of the Credit Union System
The Canadian credit union system has a rich history spanning over 100 years. Currently more than 1 in 5 Canadians are members of a credit union. In this course, you will become oriented to the breadth, scope and span of our system and learn about our local, provincial and national structure and the nine foundational credit union operating principles.
Credit Unions: Different by Design (CUIC 201)
Credit unions are different by design, but engrossed in their day-to-day work, it can be difficult for employees to see and feel “the difference”. This engaging eight-module course explores why and how we are different by design from several perspectives. Available as a cohort or as a self study.
Products & Services (CUIC 185)
Knowing your credit union’s products and services is key to building your understanding of the business and to providing excellent service. Do both and you can consistently contribute to your credit union’s success. This 10-module course is a practical overview of the products and services typically offered by credit unions as deposit-taking financial institutions as well as our competitors. Available as a cohort or as a self study.
Anti-Money Laundering: Flag the Money
We worked with Tamlo International Inc., anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing experts, to develop the award-winning program Flag the Money, which consists of customized modules for employees, executives and directors.
Flag Financial Crime (Micro-Library Learning Series)
This series of mirco-learning courses provides lessons on topics such as politically exposed persons and beneficial owners. It also introduces new financial crime topics such as how criminals use virtual currencies and how to recognize the financial characteristics of human trafficking. There are 36 micro-learning modules and each is between 3-10 minutes in length will be released.
Understanding Privacy Law and Reporting Obligations
This 60-minute eLearning module will provide employees with the information they need to carefully navigate privacy law and tax compliance regulations. While working through this module, learners will gain an understanding of the 10 Privacy Principles, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), and Common Reporting Standards (CRS).
Understanding Information Security
This 45-minute eLearning module will provide the information employees at all levels of the organization need to manage information security threats. This module will explore popular threats, including malware, phishing, and social engineering attacks. As you progress through the content, you will develop your ability to spot a security threat and gain an understanding of what leads to a privacy breach.
Robbery Preparedness
This 30-minute, fast-paced eLearning module outlines what your priorities should be in a robbery situation, no matter what your role, and how you can keep yourself and others safe.
MSR Start Series
Our Member Service Representative (MSR) Start Series covers the basics that all new MSRs, and others, need to know during the first three months on the job across six online modules. Each module is quick (30 minutes) and affordable ($49 per module).
Financial Service Representative Development Program
If you are a new Financial Services Representative, the Financial Service Representative Development Program is for you. The FSR Development program is a three-tiered training program designed specifically for Financial Service Representatives working in the credit union system.
