CCUA recently released a new report, Closing the Affordable Housing Equity Gap, which explores how credit unions can use their existing financial tools, expertise, and resources to help preserve affordable housing in communities.
The report shares findings from a CMHC-funded Solutions Lab that brought together Ontario credit unions with Community Land Trusts, organizations dedicated to preserving long-term housing affordability, community-controlled spaces, and neighborhood stability. Together, participants explored practical ways to address financing challenges and identified nine potential solutions, several of which are now being tested or further developed.
