The Ontario government is expanding the eligibility criteria for two tariff support programs to help protect jobs and support businesses impacted by the U.S. government’s latest tariff measures. 

In response to the United States government’s most recent actions affecting Ontario workers and businesses, the Ontario government is expanding eligibility under the Protect Ontario Financing Program (POFP) and the Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF) to protect jobs in tariff-impacted sectors. Eligibility for these programs will be expanded to include the exports listed below: 

• Certain steel, aluminum, and other metal products; 

• Mattresses, furniture, paper products, motorboats, and golf carts; 

• Certain dairy and specialty cheese products; and 

• Selected animal skins and leather products. 

• Most Canadian alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, cider, spirits and other liquor products; 

• Certain dairy-related products, including whey products; and 

• Motorcycles with engine capacities exceeding 800cc. 

• This update to the POFP unlocks additional tariff relief dollars and funding for your business members. With eligibility expanding, this is an opportunity for credit unions to reach out to the listed industries above and connect around potential tariff-related challenges and share the newly expanded program.
