CCUA submits recommendations to the Ministry of Agriculture to modernize Saskatchewan’s Farm Security Act

Published Date: Aug 12, 2026

CCUA, with feedback from the Saskatchewan Credit Union Agriculture Lenders Group and the Government Relations Advisory Group, provided a submission on The Saskatchewan Farm Security Act to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The submission highlighted the need to modernize the Act, noting that farming operations have grown in scale, become more sophisticated, and adopted modern business structures. Credit unions support efforts to update this outdated legislation and made eleven recommendations to improve and modernize the Act. These recommendations included modernizing administrative procedures, improving the home quarter and foreclosure processes, clarifying processes and procedures, and updating the section 68 waiver and independent legal advice requirements. A copy of the submission can be read here
