Director Training: ESG Oversight and Climate Competency for Boards

Published Date: Jun 18, 2025

Credit unions today are facing an onslaught of new pressures driven by changing social and environmental expectations, the risks associated with unprecedented levels of transparency, and members that are demanding change. As a result, boards are now faced with increased pressure to provide oversight through a new environmental, social, and governance (ESG) lens. To help boards prepare, CCUA is offering an upcoming session of ESG Oversight and Climate Competency for Boards that will focus on these new expectations and help boards tackle what’s required to address social expectations and provide climate governance in today’s ever-changing world.

The session will help boards to explore the opportunities and risks associated with regulatory changes around climate governance and the social trends that are driving that change. At the same time, you'll learn how to build your board’s capacity to shift, adapt, and evolve as needed. After attending this half-day session, boards will be equipped to answer the following questions:

  • What does Environmental, Social and Governance oversight look like in practice, within boards and committees?
  • How can a board expand their ability to anticipate and respond to future challenges and opportunities?
  • What are the implications of increased corporate disclosure for directors?
  • How is the risk landscape changing for credit unions and what does this mean for boards?

Join Christie Stephenson and credit union board of directors from across the country on July 29 & 31 by registering here today!
