Last week Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation Jamie Moses announced that the Manitoba government is investing $2 million to help 150 Manitobans facing employment barriers access employment and training programs to gain the skills and qualifications needed to secure good jobs and a sustainable income.
The investment includes funding for BUILD Inc., an Indigenous non-profit social enterprise that trains and supports individuals facing multiple employment barriers to secure long-term careers in the trades.
The Minister noted that the Manitoba government is also providing funding to Purpose Construction’s Purpose Homes Construction Skills Training Program to develop the next generation of tradespeople in Manitoba and increase diversity in the construction trades.
Moses added that an investment in SEED Winnipeg’s BEST program will provide low-income entrepreneurs, including newcomers, with the skills and support they need to launch successful businesses.
Together, the three programs will support 150 Manitobans in gaining skills training and employment opportunities.
