Federal government seeks credit union input on sustainable development goals

On June 14, CCUA participated in consultations with the Department of Finance on Canada's Consumer-Driven Banking (Open Banking) Framework. This meeting focused on accreditation and scope, the definition of small business, the phasing in of accounts, and derived data.
In their separate meetings on accreditation and scope with provincial credit union regulators and provincial Ministries of Finance, the Department of Finance noted that no provincial regulator was contemplating additional regulatory requirements for credit unions to participate in the framework at this stage.
The next meeting with the Department of Finance will be on June 21, concentrating on liability. CCUA will seek input from its provincial open banking groups and will continue to keep the sector updated on the progression of the framework.
