Research examining the housing market, pent-up consumer demand, and more!

Published Date: Mar 20, 2024

In this week's issue of Competitive Intelligence updates we explore the Canadian housing market. The issue explores how Canadian home prices were flat on a month-over-month basis, ending five straight months of declines according to the latest research from the Canadian Real Estate Association. Research indicates that there appears to be pent-up demand among Canadians, with just over 50% of Canadians who were planning to buy a home indicating that they've postponed their property search because of increased rates. As a result of these conditions, a third of Canadians are exploring non-traditional ways of entering the housing market.

This week issue also discusses a new product from reverse-mortgage provider Bloom, a new campaign from Tangerine, and a new product for gig workers, which represent almost 900,000 Canadians.
